The World Chess Championship for Players with Disabilities has closed in Lublin, Poland.

<big>The World Chess Championship for Players with Disabilities has closed in Lublin, Poland. 
 
Top seed GM Marcin Tazbir of Poland successfully defended his title on tiebreaks ahead of GM-elect Daniel Eduardo Pulvett Marin of Spain and FM-elect Pawel Piekielny of Poland. The last round saw plenty of action, with seven decisive results on the top eight boards. 
 
A total of 46 players with a variety of physical, vision, and hearing disabilities represented nine countries. 
 
One of our beloved administrators, Michael &quot;fpawn&quot; Aigner, played pretty well in the competition.</big>

&nbsp; 
<quote>I finished in 16th place with 5.0 out of 9 and gained a handful of FIDE rating points. My result was credible, given the poor first game and strong field. Unfortunately, I could not build on a 3.0 out of 4 score and limped home with four draws and my lone defeat. Sadly, I left multiple wins on the board in the final round. Bummer!</quote></big>
